Ground Transportation from Denver International Airport (DEN)
Most guests will fly into Denver International Airport (DEN), so the options below focus on easy ways to reach Copper Mountain from DEN. You can go car-free with public transit (our preferred budget-friendly pick), book a shuttle that drops you at Copper, or rent a car if you want maximum flexibility.
Budget-Friendly: Train + Bustang
- Step 1 — RTD A Line (DEN → Denver Union Station): Frequent commuter rail from the airport to downtown Denver (about 37 minutes). A Line info · Airport Day Pass ~$10.
- Step 2A — Bustang to Frisco: From Union Station, take the Bustang West Line to the Frisco Transit Center. From there, ride the free Summit Stage bus straight to Copper Mountain. Links: Bustang West Line · Summit Stage (free).
- Step 2B — Bustang Outrider to Fairplay (Group Pickup): Alternatively, take Bustang Outrider from Denver to Fairplay. Check the Crested Butte–Denver Outrider timetable for the Fairplay stop.
- Winter weekends/holidays: Snowstang sometimes runs direct Denver → Copper Mountain (seasonal). See Snowstang schedule.

When to choose: Shuttles are perfect if you land during snow or after a long travel day and prefer not to drive I-70.
Driving / Rental Cars
- Time: ~2 hours in good conditions (traffic and weather can add time on I-70). The good news is we are traveling on weekdays so traffic should not be as crowded as the weekend.
- Winter readiness: From Sept 1–May 31, Colorado’s I-70 corridor enforces the Passenger Vehicle Traction Law during winter conditions.
